Imagine two trees standing side by side. One has roots so deep you can't begin to measure them. The other looks strong on the surface but its roots, though widely extended horizontally, lie a few feet just beneath the earth. Then a powerful storm comes along, and because of the gale force winds, coupled with the heavy rainfall, the second tree tragically topples to the ground.
